Limited Edition: Iznik Plates

Iznik art is named after the town of İznik, where they are made. The town is located approximately 2 hours southeast of Istanbul. During the Ottoman Empire decorative pieces would be commissioned for the palaces, dating back to the 15th century (and even earlier), to impress visitors and rivals from courts around the world.

Each plate is one of a kind. We do not carry multiples of any design, however the theme may be similar. Traditional designs incorporate tulips, hyacinth, roses, and the tree of life. To this day, the artists that make them are highly skilled in the craft of pottery painting.
